The celebration of the traditional Korean holiday “Cheosok”

     On October 7, 2020, the celebration of the traditional Korean holiday “Cheosok” was held on the ZOOM online platform under the guidance of advisers Zhansaya Toktarova and Elina Kim. 1st year students of the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East took part there.

     Chuseok is a wonderful family holiday, which is celebrated on August 15 of the lunar calendar. This year the celebration took place from September 30 to October 2. Usually, during Chuseok, many Koreans go to their hometowns and celebrate their favorite holiday with their family and relatives, but due to the pandemic, there is no feeling of the holiday at all.

     Every year, the Department of the Far East, the Department of Korean Studies holds a fun event in honor of Chuseok, but despite the current situation, the event was held online, but the students were able to receive useful information and spent an interesting time. During the event, advisers of the first courses Zhansaya Toktarova. and Elina Kim present in detail about Chuseok, about the specificies of spending the main Korean holiday not only in Korea, but also in Kazakhstan, and also at the end of the event held a session of questions and answers.
