On October 10, 2023, an educational and methodological seminar on the topic was held at the Department of Chinese Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies: "Features of the application of modern teaching methods in the process of teaching foreign languages", organized by Acting Professor Daulet Fatimabibi Nogaykyzy.
During the seminar, Fatimababibi Nogaykyzy exchanged personal educational and methodological experience gained in the process of teaching Chinese, Russian, Kazakh and English languages in different countries with the teachers of the department. According to the professor, among the modern methods used in teaching foreign languages are the method of communicative competencies (grammatical competence, reader competence, strategic competence and cultural and cognitive competence), the Uets method (improving the student's communicative competence using texts on various topics), case-study (case-method - solving specific problem situations and creating opportunities for making opposite decisions through discussion using a foreign language), brainstorm (develops professional skills, such as the ability to present their thoughts in a reasoned and logical way through discussion using generally accepted language norms of a foreign language), project method (increases the student's ability to work independently, search, creating PPT for various topics), the use of modern computer and information technologies (feature films, TV series, Internet sites, various applications, such as tik-tok, shorts, podcasts, blogs on various Internet platforms, video blogs, Internet messengers), which not only facilitate the development of the theory of a foreign language, at the same time, these methods help to increase the motivation of students to further study foreign languages. The professor also stressed the importance of being aware of the latest trends in the field of teaching foreign languages, developing their own, author's methods, the constant development of individual professional competencies, obtaining additional education. Colleagues-participants of the seminar exchanged opinions, shared personal experiences in the process of teaching foreign languages.
