The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced a competition for program-targeted funding for scientific and (or) scientific and technical programs for 2021-2023 in priority areas of science development:

Within the realization of the program "Rukhani Zhangyru", for the purpose of inculcation of skills of a healthy way of life, prevention of drug addiction and destructive behavior among students, the faculty of international relations of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi organized online meeting of students with a social doctor of the Centre for Prevention and Control of AIDS in Almaty Madina Meshirkyzy, who read a lecture on "Prevention of HIV-infections".

The International Scientific and Practical Online Conference "New Media Landscape of the XXI Century" was held at the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, dedicated to the memory of the founder of television and radio journalism in Kazakhstan, Professor Marat Karibayevich Barmankulov, who laid the foundations of the scientific school of journalism in Kazakhstan and made a significant contribution to the development of national television and radio broadcasting and was a mentor for many generations of Kazakhstani journalists.

At a meeting of the Academic Council of Al-Farabi KazNU, issues of organizing the educational process in the 2021-2022 academic year, digitalization of the university's activities, preparation of educational buildings and student houses for the new academic year were discussed.

Al-Farabi KazNU hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the University Zhanseit Tuimebayev with young scientists, during which they discussed the issues of active participation of undergraduates, doctoral students and postdoctoral students in the development of the university, the need to support their creative projects and initiatives, as well as expanding the boundaries of the exchange of scientific ideas.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University improved its performance and strengthened its position according to the results of the “QS World University Ranking by Subject 2021”, where more than 1,200 world universities are ranked in five different subject areas. Compared to last year, KazNU significantly improved its performance in the “Arts and Humanities”, going up from the 277^th to the 156^th place and in “Social Sciences and Management”, from the 351^st to 257^th place.

Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Al-Farabi KazNU Alumni Association, Doctor of Law, Professor Kairat Abdrazakuly Mami and Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Igor Ivanovich Rogov visited the university and discussed with the rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev issues of organizing and holding the KazNU Alumni Day named after al-Farabi.

Al-Farabi KazNU hosted an online ceremony of signing a memorandum of cooperation between Al-Farabi KazNU and the Swiss School of Applied Sciences (Swiss-Sasem) of Economics and Management, which determined the prospects for the development of double-diploma education.

Al-Farabi KazNU undergraduates have developed a new device that measures the level of air pollution and scans the air quality in real time.
