Almaty hosted a two-day international seminar «Initiative for the Rapprochement of Islam: Prospects for Peace and Conflict Resolution in OIC Member States», organized by the OIS General Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Al-Farabi KazNU.

On April 22, 2019, Dean of the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnolog, Nogaybayeva Mendygul, awarded scholarships to students at the regular meeting of the University administration.

Professors of the Department of Far Eastern Studies met with the President of the Republic of Korea. The state visit of the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in to Kazakhstan on April 21-23 is a part of his tour of Central Asian countries.

The General Secretary of the World Customs Organization headquartered in Brussels Kunio Mikuriy announced about the accreditation of the KazNU’s educational program “Custom Affair.” KazNU became the first university in Central Asia region held the WTO’s certificate on accreditation of the educational program “Customs Affair.”
First-year students of the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology, together with faculty memebers in the framework of the KazNU Green Campus project, planted flowers on the territory of campus, thereby implementing one of the best initiatives of the university.

President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae Ying met in Almaty with the leaders of various public organizations and active representatives of the Korean Diaspora in Kazakhstan. Also, a conversation with recognized scientists of Korean nationality was held.

In KazNU named after al-Farabi was held a conference dedicated to presentation of new 30 books, translated into the Kazakh language in the framework of the project "the New Humanities: 100 books in the Kazakh language"

Director of the International Partnership Program of the UIC at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Mr. Jeff Wan, visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to discuss areas of cooperation between the two Universities. During a meeting with the First Vice-Rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev, general issues of collaboration and the establishment of a partnership program between the Universities were discussed.

As part of career guidance, teachers of the Far East Department held an event for schoolchildren "Mysterious Japan." The event was attended by high school students of Almaty and students of the Japanese studies department.
