In Al-Farabi KazNU, the Department of History, Archeology and Ethnology held a Republican Scientific-Practical Conference entitled «National Historical Consciousness and Modernization of Society in the XXI Century», dedicated to the implementation of nationwide program articles by the Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev «Looking into the Future: Modernization of Public’s Consciousness» and «The Seven Facets of the Great Steppe».

We are the students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, appeal to all the youth of the country! Kazakhstan has entered the Year of Youth, and this is a manifestation of the great and special care of the Head of the State about the younger generation, which is the future of our country. It is on young people that great hopes and responsibility are placed on strengthening the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, forming an intellectual nation and raising the bar of national competitiveness at the world level

The speech by the Head of the State at the opening ceremony of the Year of Youth «Tauelsіzdіktіn Urpaktary» (The Generation of Independence) was discussed at the Student Forum held in Al-Farabi KazNU. The students of the leading University called on the younger generation of Kazakhstan to join the National Youth Movement «Creativity and the Energy of Youth Towards the Country’s Innovative Development! », which they have initiated.

In 2018, the Department of Korean Studies of the Department of the Far East accepted an unprecedented number of first years students. Adviser - curator, as well as a doctoral student in the specialty "Oriental Studies" Sermukhametova Bagzhan told about the main priorities of the modern day through the prism of history.

At the military Department of the Kazakh national University named after al-Farabi was held a solemn event to mark the day of creation of the Institute of deputy commanders for educational and socio-legal work of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Master students of Al-Farabi KazNU took part in a Round Table on the UN Model in the United States. The event on the outcome of Kazakhstan’s activities in the UN Security Council was organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations in New York, jointly with the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development at KazNU and the University’s Youth Organization «Model UN - New Silk Road»

From 17 – 18 January 2019, the Republic of Korea held an international scientific conference under the auspices of the " New Understanding and Utilization of Local Culture Resources "at the Andong state University in Andong.  12 reports were presented at the conference, including speakers from Japan, China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was included in the group of 201-250 best Universities of developing countries in the Times Higher Education (THE) authoritative world ranking.
