France intends to strengthen cooperation with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in the field of science and education, and aerospace science will be a priority. This was confirmed by the deputy and chairman of the France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the French Republic, Mr. Pierre Cabaret, during a meeting with the leadership of the university.

On November 28,2018 the 1^st meeting of “Yes I can!” club was held. The club was organized on the basis of the department for foreign languages.

The «SpaceX» Elon Musk Company has launched the Kazakhstani Nanosatellite «Al-Farabi-2» created by Al-Farabi KazNU.

Professor of the Department of Plasma Physics and Computer Physics Gabdullin Maratbek Tulebergenovich presented with “Person of the Year – Altyn Adam” award in the “Worker of Science” category.

The Kazakh poetry of Olzhas Suleimenov sounded within the walls of the National University of Jeonbuk (Republic of Korea). Lecturers of the Department of the Far East KazNU Al-Farabi, at the invitation of the National University of Jeonbuk and the city of Jeonju (Republic of Korea), took part in the international conference «Korean studies in the 21st Century: Challenges and Responses». 

On December 1, the “Political scientist” discussion club organized an event within the framework of the “Hundred Books” project. It was held in a friendly atmosphere of the city coffee shop "Pascucci". A literary quiz was held with prizes, and participants presented colorful presentations of their favorite books.

By the decree of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Academician Galym Mutanov was awarded with «Ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana».

Graduate students of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took 2nd place in the International Olympiad for GEODESIA, which was first held at the Guangdong Polytechnic University of Industry and Commerce in the city of Guanzhou of the People's Republic of China. This conference was attended by students from 9 countries of Central Asia.

In the run-up to the Year of Youth and as part of celebration of the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the VI Republican Student Patriotic Forum entitled «Men Zhastarga Senemin!» was held in Al-Farabi KazNU.

As the result of the first ever held National Robotics Championship among higher education institutions of the country, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University team was ranked first.
