The 10^th Republic Student Olympiad in the specialty “Oriental Studies” took place at the Oriental Studies faculty of Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.

The students of the specialty "Finance" of the Higher School of Economics and Business of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi were awarded the third place at the 10th Republican student subject Olympiad within economic specialties.

Al-Farabi KazNU became a member of the prestigious organization «University Social Responsibility Network» (USRN) that unites such famous universities as Manchester University and Cambridge University (Great Britain), Peking University (China), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Washington (USA), University of São Paulo (Brazil) and etc.

On 9^th of April 2018, at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held the VII International Student Forum “Green Bridge Through Generations”, dedicated to promoting the values and principles of Sustainable Development and the “Green” Economy for future generations, discussing opportunities and options for a large-scale dissemination of the basic ideas of Sustainable Development on the Eurasian territory.

On April 6, 2018, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Abdul Salih Khan, as well as the Second Secretary of the Representation of the Republic of Pakistan in Almaty, Mr. Basit Salim Shah and his assistant Manas Karibaev made their first visit to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Mr. Yqtiyar Paltore, warmly welcomed the Pakistani delegation whose goal was to resume Pakistani-Kazakh relations in education, science and culture, as well as to renew the previously concluded agreement between al-Farabi KazNU and the National University named after Qaeda Azam in Islamabad, Pakistan.

On April at the Chinese Studies Department of the Oriental Studies Faculty of al-Farabi KazNU the international trade company "枫叶国际级贸易有限公司" (“Maple leaf Ltd.”) conducted a lecture for the students of the Department on the subject "Employers' requirements for graduates of universities, the duties of students as employees."

On April 6, 2018, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Digital Law: Specifics of the Kazakhstan Model and New Directions of Development" was held by the Law Faculty of the al-Farabi KazNU within the framework of the V Anniversary International Farabi Readings, issues of digitalization and provision of this process with specialized legislation at the world and national levels were considered. Scientists from Russian Federation, Finland, Spain, France and other countries took part in the conference.

The meeting of the First Vice-Rector Muhambetkali Burkitbaev with delegation of Japanese company Chiyoda Technol Corporation was held at Al-Farabi KazNU.

Based on the results of an independent assessment conducted by QS in 2018, KazNU became the first University in Kazakhstan and the only one in the Central Asian region that is awarded «Four Stars» of Excellence in «QS Stars Development Road map international rating».
