Students of al-Farabi KazNU at the twenty-ninth Summer Universiade - 2017 in Taipei (Taiwan) won four medals. In the Universiade took part 7639 athletes from 142 countries.

Al-Farabi KazNU held an orientation week for freshmen, during which the new students learned about the history, traditions and rules of the University.

In Kazakh National University was held scientific-methodical conference "Models of interethnic and interreligious harmony in modern Kazakhstan", devoted to the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan".

On the basis of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has held a lecture on shade-tolerant plants in urban areas of Almaty.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University became an absolute leader among the universities of the country by the number of grants received for education. 

Delegation from Malaysia headed by the deputy vice-chancellor of the National University of Tenaga (UNITEN) Mod Tsamri Yusoff  has visited Al-Farabi KazNU. 

Master students has been in Istanbul University and they participated in the lectures and seminars of leading academicians which have been organized by director of Farabi center in Istanbul. 

In the faculty of  Oriental Studies, Department of  Turksoy for students of Istambul Universtity  Summer school passes.
