1/25/2012 Innovation in teaching and education: TEACHER TRAINING PENALTY al-Farabi

Improvement of professional teaching skills faculty of the university - an important task of the university. At the Department of Pedagogy KSU in 70 years of the twentieth century under the guidance of Professor d.p.n K.B. Berzhanov acted Institute of Teaching Excellence. Now we are reviving this tradition. During the winter holidays, the students with the support of the Department of Academic Affairs and the Department for educational work were organized training sessions for faculty members. In total, the department of pedagogy for two weeks of January held 37 training courses for all faculties. From 9 to January 17, 2012 conducted training on student-oriented approach to learning, problem-based and project learning. From 12 to 19 January 2012 - Training School of the curators, advisors on educational work.

Due to the large demand of teachers instead of planned 15 training sessions for student-oriented teaching conducted 20 training sessions. Training was conducted in parallel in the Kazakh and Russian groups of two teachers - Ph.D., associate professor A.K. Mynbayeva, associate professor G.A. Kassen, associate professor N.S. Algozhaeva, teacher Zhumabekova. Assistance in the training provided, and associate professor Z.M. Sadvakasova, many teachers were working moments photography workshops.


1/20/2012 The seminar was conducted

The Methodological Bureau of The Faculty of international relations jointly with The Institute of Raising the level of teacher’s skills held the 2nd seminar for the teachers of English on the following topics “Some effective approaches to motivate students in learning English” and “Some effective ways of teaching grammar”.The seminar took place on the 18th and 19th of January , 2012.

The seminar was conducted by Associate Professor of KazNU Makisheva M.K. Such seminars are very useful for the teachers to communicate and to discuss interesting issues.58 teachers from 4 linguistic chairs of our University took part at the seminar.


1/13/2012 Resumed its joint scientific seminar on "Modern scientific problems in mathematics, mechanics and information technology"

In Mechanical and Mathematics Faculty of al-Farabi KazNU, resumed its joint scientific seminar on "Modern scientific problems in mathematics, mechanics and information technology". The leaders of the seminar - academician of NAS RK, professor Zhumagulov B.T. and academician of NEA RK, professor Danaev N.T. The Secretary of the seminar – associate professor, Khikmetov A.K.

In the seminar participate professors, teachers of various universities of Kazakhstan, and PhD doctoral and master students. Expected to participate the invited scientists from scientific research centers and universities of Kazakhstan. The seminar is held weekly on Wednesdays at 17:00 in room number325 at av. al-Farabi 71, № 13 (Mechanical and Mathematics Faculty).

The students’ conference “For a nuclear–free world”. Twenty Years of Closing of Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site” was held. The conference was organized by Suleimenova G.S., associate Professor and Karipbayeva G.A., senior teacher (The Chair of Diplomatic Translation). Arynov Zhanibek, Kopabayev Dauren, the students of the 4th course, International Relations Department (the Kazakh group) were the moderators of the conference The conference was opened by the dean of the faculty of international relations,Doctor of Sciences(law) professor Shakirov K.N and Suleimenova G.S. The 1st report was made by Karipbayeva G.A., senior teacher of the Chair of Diplomatic Translation “Polygon by the eyes of the witness”.


12/13/2011 Report of the meeting with General-consul of The United States of America Michael Snowden

On December 12 on the faculty of international relations Al-Farabi Kazakh University held a meeting with Michael Snowden, General Consul of The USA in Almaty. Diplomatic club Taleyran and americanists’ Association took part as the organizer of this meeting.

In the first part of the meeting Mr. Snowden read a lecture about modern problems of international relations and particularly pointed out the problem of sustainable development. Second part of the meeting went on in discussion, students asked several questions concerning educational programs, the role of international organizations in the region of Central Asia and Mr. Snowden’s way of growth as a diplomat

Leadership lecture of Professor Wulf Lapins on “Afghanistan-Central Asia: critical review and prospects” held at faculty of International relations at the threshold of 20th anniversary of Independence of Republic of Kazakhstan was devoted to security problems in Central Asia and the contribution of Kazakhstan to regional stability.
