STUDENTS OF THE NEW PARTNER - UNIVERSITY OF BUNKYOU GAKUIN (JAPAN) AT THE WINTER SCHOOL OF THE KAZNU 2018

The Department of the Far East a year ago initiated negotiations with the participation of the First Vice-Rector M. Burkitbayev, where an agreement was reached on cooperation with the University of Bunkyou Gakuin (Japan).

One of the results was the reception of 22 students of the Faculty of Humanities at the Winter School in KazNU named after al-Farabi. The students became participants of the joint educational program "Regional Studies. Politics, Economics and Culture of Central Asia "with the receipt of certificates.
For Japanese students, this was the first visit to Kazakhstan, which left an indelible impression about the campus of the university, about the city landscape, about meetings with Kazakhstani students.
The most vivid impression was field research. On March 15, 2018, students of the Far East Department conducted a joint trip with Japanese students to one of the most picturesque places in Kazakhstan - Tamgaly Tas. During the field expedition students and teachers of the Department of the Far East told about the customs and traditions of Kazakhstan. During the journey, the landscape was changed from the urban to the broad steppes of the once nomadic people, where they grazed various cattle, which struck the most foreign students.

The Tamgaly-Tas tract is famous for rock paintings, the total number of which is 2000 petroglyphs. The students studied the images of sun-headed deities, mummers, palisen-fighting soldiers, mating pairs, maternity wards, multi-figure compositions depicting people and animals, animal hunting scenes and bulls sacrifice scenes, chariot scenes, and numerous solar signs.
The trip was informative not only for Japanese students, but also for students of Al-Farabi KazNU. Practical application of language skills expanded the list of qualification competencies during the Winter School 2018.
