Olympiad in Chemistry

On March 29-30, 2018 in Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of al-Farabi KazNU the Republican object student’s Olympic Games in the specialty “5B072100 – ChTOS” were held. It represents the system of internal competitions of students in the specialty “5B072100 – ChTOS” higher educational institutions during which assessment of knowledge, skills of participating students is carried out and winners are defined. As the main mission of the Olympic Games serves the formation of creative thinking of young people and inducing of research activity of students in the field of chemical technology of organic substances. The object student’s Olympic Games in the specialty “5B072100 – ChTOS” are held annually at the Republican level.

Students of 2-4 courses in the specialty “5B072100 – ChTOS” of day form education took part in the Olympic Games. Total number of participants made 89 people of 12 leading higher educational institutions of Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Uralsk, Semey, Aktobe, Pavlodar. At opening the Dean of Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology d.ch.sc. Ongarbayev E.K. made a speech.

The Olympic Games succeeded to 2 rounds. In the first round participants passed test at the courses “Organic Chemistry of Aliphatic Compounds”, “Basic Processes and Devices of Chemical technology”, “General Chemical Technology”, “Chemical technology of the Main Organic Synthesis". In the second round each team submitted the scientific project on chemical technology of organic substances. Scientific works were checked by competent judges which part of professor staff were.

The student 3 courses of specialty “5B072100 – ChTOS” Akshabayeva Aruzhan who gained the largest score for the first and second rounds of the Olympic Games was recognized as the winner of the Olympic Games in an individual competition. The winner of the Olympic Games in a team championship team “Limitless” of al-Farabi KazNU as a part of three students 3 courses of al-Farabi KazNU – Tasbolat Adin, Maxim Dayana and Akshabayeva Aruzhan – was recognized who gained the largest sum of GPA for the first and second rounds of the Olympic Games.

All participants and teams which took the second and third places in a personal and team competition, were awarded with diplomas and valuable presents in a festive atmosphere.
