On March 27-29, 2018, the teachers of the Middle East and South Asia Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Z.E. Iskakova and D.M. Kokeyeva participated in the International Conference "Global Peace and Sustainable Development through Language and Literature: Dreams & Designs" organized by the Department of Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Islamic Studies of the Faculty of Languages of the University of Visva-Bharati, which is located in the city of Santiniketan (West Bengal, India).
This university was founded in the early 20th century by Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore is a famous Indian writer, poet, composer, artist, public figure. His work formed the literature and music of Bengal and had a strong influence on the spiritual and cultural life of India. He was the first among non-Europeans who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. During the conference, staffs of al-Farabi KazNU (the only among the foreign participants in the conference) were received by the rector of the University, professor Sabujkoli Sen. During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation, academic mobility and a double diploma program were discussed. The Indian side expressed great interest in cooperation with the al-Farabi KazNU.
