III International Documentary Films Festival

The grand opening of the III International Turkic World Documentary Films Festival was held at Al-Farabi KazNU.

The opening ceremony of the Festival was attended by the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Almaty Ryza Kagan Yilmaz, President of the Turkic World Journalists Federation, Chairman of the Film Festival Organizing Committee Menderes Demir, President of the Journalists Federation of Turkey Yilmaz Karadzha, Art historian and Musician Temel Shahin and the main character of the documentary «Analardin Anasi» Kamilya Kassumova.

Welcoming the guests, the First Vice-Rector of the University Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev thanked everyone who contributed to the preparation and conducting of the Film Festival. «We are pleased to take part in this Film Festival, which has great social and cultural significance for the Turkic countries. It is encouraging to note that the geography of the Film Festival is expanding and films are devoted to current social, cultural, spiritual and socially significant topics, and most importantly to the education of young people,» – highlighted the Vice-Rector.

In his speech, the President of the Turkic World Journalists Federation Menderes Demir, emphasized that the Documentary Film Festival of the Turkic World is intended to support documentary filmmakers to contribute to the development and expansion of documentary filmmaking.

The Kazakhstani Film Festival Program was launched with a film about the Great Thinker and Philosopher of the East Abu Nasr Al-Farabi «Al-Farabi – Philosopher of Civilization», and it gives great pride to the University to carry his name. The film tells the descendants of rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Thinker. The event culminated in demonstration of the «Turki Ana» joint project within the Festival of documentary works. The plot of the film is based on the story its heroes, who are presented by the mothers from eight Turkic countries, including Kazakhstan.

The main character of a documentary film from Kazakhstan «Analardyn Anasy», Kamilya Azhe, was honored at the Festival. Kamilya Azhe’s life and optimism are admirable. Having passed through many trials, she continues to educate the younger generation by her own example.

President of the Turkic World Journalists Federation, Menderes Demir awarded Director of the Department of Image Policy and Public Relations of KazNU, Dauren Dyussebayev for his active participation in the «Turki Ana» Festival and organization of the III International Turkic World Documentary Films Festival, and Vice-Rector of KazNU Mehmet Arslan and Director of the Department of International Cooperation Aizhan Smailova were also awarded for their active participation in organizing and conducting of the III International Turkic World Documentary Films Festival.

During the Festival, seven documentaries were presented: «Kamilya Azhe», Sen Adam Mısın?», «1м2», «İsterdim Belgeseli», «Dişe Diş Söze Söz», and «Ibn Sina».
