Meeting with representatives of the public association "Afghan Center "Ariana"

With the support of the Department of Internal Policy of Almaty, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a meeting with representatives of the public association “Afghan Center “Ariana”. Since 2009, Ariana has been engaged in educational and cultural activities, legal and legal assistance to citizens of the Afghan diaspora in Kazakhstan. The moderator of this meeting was a well-known journalist and culturologist Berdaly Ospan.

The Chairman of the “Afghan Center “Ariana” Ahmadulla Vastok in his opening speech emphasized the important role of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in maintaining friendship, peace and understanding between the two nations. In particular, Kazakhstan provided an opportunity to carry out duty-free trade for Afghanistan. In addition, Ahmadulla Vastok thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for allocating US $ 50 million to train the Afghan youth, thanks to which, since 2010, over the planned 1000 students today, 30 people from Afghanistan are still studying. In this regard, participating in the meeting, students of the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology asked about the possibility of visiting Afghanistan as part of educational practices for a deeper study of the country's historical monuments. From the faculty of oriental studies, this issue was also supported by students and the head of the center for Iranian studies of the faculty of Oriental studies, G.T. Zhumadilova who made a proposal to formally fasten oral agreements with representatives of the public association “Afghan Center “Ariana” and conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

“The largest university in Afghanistan, Kabul University, has an impressive budget thanks to the support of the United States and European countries. In my opinion, it will not be difficult to reach an agreement with the Kabul University and conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation if the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University takes the initiative in this matter,” said Azizi Rakhimullo Azizullo, Deputy Chairman of the “Afghan Center “Ariana”.

This meeting fully showed the openness of Afghanistan to cooperation with the Kazakh education system, and also had a positive result in expanding the geography of research for Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
