National Historical Consciousness and Modernization of Society

In Al-Farabi KazNU, the Department of History, Archeology and Ethnology held a Republican Scientific-Practical Conference entitled «National Historical Consciousness and Modernization of Society in the XXI Century», dedicated to the implementation of nationwide program articles by the Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev «Looking into the Future: Modernization of Public’s Consciousness» and «The Seven Facets of the Great Steppe».

The Conference was attended by leading historians, archeologists, philologists, orientalists, such as Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Doctor of History, Professor Bolat Komekov; Director of the Institute of Linguistics A. Baitursynov, Doctor of Philology, Professor Erden Kazhybek; Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Director of the Republican Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia at KazNU, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Talas Omarbekov; Director of the Scientific Research Center Turan-Iran, Doctor of Philology, Professor Jemenei Islam; Director of the Institute of History and Archeology named after Shokan Ualikhanov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Ziyabek Kabuldinov; Professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Honorary Professor of the University of Göttingen, Kalkaman Zhumagulov; and Head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan of Al-Farabi KazNU, Corresponding Member NAS RK, Doctor of History, Professor Bereket Karibaev and many others.

Academician B.E. Komekov gave a presentation on the topic «Uly Dala Orkenietinin Kunndylyktary Turaly», in which he revealed the importance of studying the historical features and ethno-cultural values of nomads based on interdisciplinary synthesis, political and ethno-social basis of the institute of nomadic society, and also studying the history of Kazakh statehood. Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan T.O. Omarbekov delivered a report on the topic «The Role and Importance of the Historical People in the Great Steppe».

During the Conference, key issues related to the assessment of the role and place of Kazakhstan in the world history, and ways to form a national historical consciousness and modernization of society in the 21st century were discussed.
