KazNU Creates Center of Advanced Medicine

The Clinical Hospital №1 in Almaty with participation of Al-Farabi KazNU and specialists from South Korea will become the Center of advanced medicine.

The leading University of the country has begun the implementation of the second phase of creation of a Research and Educational Biomedical Cluster. With the support of the Head of State, in order to implement the project, the Clinical Hospital No. 1 of Almaty was given KazNU to trust managing.

Rector of KazNU, academician Galym Mutanov, and the delegation of «Severance» hospital at Yonsei University, headed by Professor Lee Beon Seok, visited the City Hospital. During the visit, they got acquainted with infrastructure, operating unit and the Medical Departments, Rehabilitation and Screening Centers, technical equipment of Laboratories. Providing the population with high-quality international-level medical services was the main topic of the meeting between the Rector and South Korean specialists with the staff of the Medical Institution.

It should be noted that the University with participation of South Korean colleagues have already opened a modern Diagnostic Center and the Higher School of Public Health (Faculty of Medicine) that successfully operate and trains medical personnel for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.

«South Korea is considered to be the world leader in medicine. KazNU in partnership with the «Severance» hospital of Yonsei University are working together to create a medical-biological cluster with a world-class clinic. The transfer of the City Hospital to the trust management of KazNU is aimed primarily at the integration of medical education, science and practice. International experience, knowledge and innovations will help make the Hospital a center of advanced medicine and provide high-quality services to the population in accordance with high international standards,» - said rector Galym Mutanov at the meeting.

The Director of KazNU’s Diagnostic Center, Ernest Kaliyev, delivered a report and briefed the audience on the current state of the Clinic. He noted that there were created good conditions for patients to stay, and advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies are being actively introduced. He also spoke about the plans for joint work with the staff of the City Hospital and the prospects for its development with assistance of foreign experts.

General Director of the «Severans» Hospital, Lee Beon Sok, highly appreciated the well-functioning work of registration and referral services of the Clinical Hospital, as well as the level of its Rehabilitation Center. «The main mission of a world-class medical institution is to provide comprehensive services from simple to complex. We intend to further develop our cooperation with KazNU and assist in the implementation of projects in the medical field»- highlighted the guest.

Bilateral dialogue was held in a constructive way, the parties have considered a wide range of issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and further development of the Clinical Hospital.
