POSCO Scholarships

 Within the framework of the program of the POSCO TJ Park Foundation, ten students of Al-Farabi KazNU was awarded the «Scholarships for the best students in Asian countries». It is issued annually to the best students of 12 Universities in 10 countries of Asia.

The awarding ceremony was held in Al-Farabi library with the participation of the First Vice-Rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev and General Director of the POSCO International Corporation, Almaty office of Mr. Jeon Jae Bong.

In the new academic year, ten students of the Faculties of Journalism, Law, International Relations and the Higher School of Economics and Business demonstrated excellent academic performance.

Handing over the certificates to the winners, the General Director of the Almaty office, Jeong Jae Bong, noted that «the Company intends to continue supporting talented young people who strive to achieve great heights. Gaining strong knowledge, they help not only themselves, but the whole society».

Making a congratulatory speech, the First Vice-Rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev also emphasized that the University has been fruitfully cooperating with 45 leading Universities in South Korea for many years. Programs of academic mobility for students and teachers are being implemented, an active exchange of experience in scientific and educational activities is ongoing, joint research is being carried out under various projects. This year, twenty-two students from South Korea are studying at KazNU at the Faculties of International Relations, Oriental Studies and the Pre-University Faculty.

In turn, the scholars on behalf of all students thanked POSCO representatives for their financial support and emphasized that Posco is one of the first industrial corporations to see the incredible potential of the Asian region.

«It is not a secret that not all talented people in these countries have the opportunity to get higher education. The reasons for this may be different, but mostly these are very high tuition fees. Now, thanks to the help provided by the Foundation of the founder of the company, Park Taejoon, the Posco Asia Fellowship program is for me personally not just financial assistance, but an outstretched hand to climb to the top, a gesture of goodwill. To be the very leader this company believes, it is a high responsibility. This is the realization that now I have the opportunity to lend this hand to those who need it. The more, the better. Only this way, together, we can build a happy future», - shared her opinion the winner of the competition, third-year student of the Faculty of Journalism of KazNU Assem Omurzakova.
