Military Training for Cadets

In accordance with the program of reserve officers training at the Military Department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in July-August, training sessions were held with students who have completed the full course of study. In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the training camp is held online.

This year’s training camp has attracted students, who are studying at the Military Department of KazNU in the following military specialties: officers of the Air Defense Forces of the Army, commanders of motorized rifle units, officers of educational structures, military psychologists, military journalists and officers for the organization of physical training and sports. Given the current epidemiological situation in the country, the classes were conducted online in accordance with the instruction «On conducting classes in remote mode» approved by the head of the Military Department, Colonel O. Azhimov.

After the quarantine has been eased and all sanitary and epidemiological requirements were met, cadets of the Military Department took part in small arms training in the second half of August at the firing range of the Military Institute of the Ground Forces. Cadets studying in the Reserve Officer program for the Army's Air Defense Forces fired a ZU-23 Anti-Aircraft Gun. Also during that period, practical classes were held on technical, combat and special training.

At the online training camp a large program of military-patriotic and cultural and leisure activities were held. These are military-technical quizzes, debates and tournaments, thematic evenings, and psychological trainings. All training platoons were disputed by videoconference entitled «My Position!». In addition, the teachers of the Military Department conducted online conversations on military history and discussed films and books of military patriotism. Each of the training units produced combat leaflets, photo newspapers and video clips in online formats titled «Let's Learn Military Affairs!».

The cadets have successfully mastered theoretical and practical part of the training, demonstrating good knowledge and skills of military affairs, showing activity in self-preparation and at the events held by the Department.
