Media literacy for teachers
11/5/2020The Department of Print and Electronic Media of Al-Farabi KazNU, within the framework of the Week of Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL), with the participation of representatives of the UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, conducted advanced training courses for teachers “Media and Information Literacy” on the critical topic “Counteracting disinfodemia: media and information literacy for one and all ”.
The idea of conducting online advanced training courses for teachers belongs to the Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Head of the department of printing and electronic media Gulmira Sultanbaeva. These are not the first meetings with colleagues in the Central Asian region. The Department is famous for its numerous directions and forms of involvement of school and University teachers in a diverse educational format. These are, for example, known to everyone Winter and Summer schools.
Opening the courses, Gulmira Serikbaevna emphasized the relevance of this topic at present moment, during a pandemic, when we all study and conduct classes online. G. Sultanbaeva noted the continuity of the subject matter and the involvement in the educational projects of the department of more and more teachers from all the republic.
The teachers learned the basics of media and information literacy, and also mastered in practice the use of numerous tools of media and information literacy. From November 1 to 3, the course participants performed practical tasks on the MIL instruments. The topic turned out to be especially useful - the work of a teacher at Tilde. The resource is simple and very effective; many people can use it for their studies regardless of the disciplines taught.
- This kind of online classes and distance workshops are very important, we learned a lot, we exchanged work experience, and the senior lecturer of the Department of Printing and Electronic Media Sanat Seydekhanov very skillfully conducted the classes, - noted after completing the courses, Ph.D., associate professor Alma Kurmanbaeva.
On November 5, at the end of the course, participants discussed their practical work and awarded certificates.
The courses have been completed, but the training of teachers continues.
