AWARDED THE BEST TEACHERS

An online awards ceremony for the winners of the competition "The best teacher of the university-2020" was held at KazNU named after al-Farabi. The solemn event began with a speech by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimaganbetov. The Minister congratulated 150 winners of the competition from 46 universities of the republic, including 18 teachers of KazNU.

Welcoming and congratulating all the participants of the solemn meeting, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted the symbolism of the event, which takes place on the eve of the spring holiday Nauryz Meiramy. In his speech, he spoke about the upcoming tasks in the field of education and science, which the Head of State Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev outlined for the universities of the republic.

“We need to carry out reforms, and students and teachers should be at the center of this work. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan has set complex tasks - increasing the prestige of university teachers, increasing their salaries, reducing the workload, and many others. etc. We made a decision that the minimum wage of a teacher should be at least 200 thousand tenge, a professor should receive at least 350 thousand tenge. Universities should optimize their expenses, ”the minister said. He also drew attention to the workload of teachers, which from the beginning of the new academic year should be no more than 700 hours per year. Such changes are necessary in order for the teacher not only to teach with high quality, but also to be engaged in scientific work.

Further, the minister stressed the importance of encouraging teachers who make a great contribution to the development of science and education. And one of the important incentives, he called the annual competition "The best teacher of the university." 623 teachers from 73 universities received applications for participation in the competition announced in November 2020. According to the results of the competition, 150 best applicants were selected. Each of them received a grant in the amount of 5,834,000 tenge, which will allow them to undergo an internship at the best foreign university, improve their qualifications and implement their scientific and educational projects.

The performance of teachers was assessed according to various indicators, which were subdivided into two blocks - the quality of teaching and research activities.

At the final stage, to check the work of applicants, a republican expert commission was created, which included employees of the project office for combating corruption of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adal Bilim, scientists and teachers, including holders of the title of "Best University Teacher" of previous years. To eliminate corruption risks, the submitted materials of the applicants were distributed among the members of the expert group by the method of random sampling.

As a result, in 2020, the title of "Best teacher of the university" was awarded to 18 teachers of KazNU named after al-Farabi: senior teacher of the Department of Mathematics Serik Aitzhanov, acting Associate Professor of the Department of Plasma Physics and Computer Physics Nuria Bastykova; Associate Professor of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Study Gulzhan Bedelova; Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biotechnology Ramza Berzhanova.
