ALMATY. April 19. Press Center - This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Kazakh Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. In honor of the significant date, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific-theoretical conference "The history of the struggle for the formation of the statehood of the Turkic peoples of the late 19th-early 20th centuries."
The organizers of the online event were: KazNU named after al-Farabi and the Ataturk Institute at the Turkish University of Hacettepe. The conference was attended by public figures, historians and scientists of domestic and foreign universities.
The meeting was opened by Serik Mukhambetzhanov, Director of the Department for Science and Innovation Activity of KazNU named after al-Farabi, having read out a welcome letter from the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the University Zhanseit Tuimebayev to the conference participants.
In turn, the representative of Turkey to UNESCO, Professor Ocal Oguz noted the importance and significance of the conference.
“The joint work of the two fundamental scientific schools will certainly give impetus to new ideas and initiatives. Currently, one of the most pressing problems is the language and its specificity, as well as the mentality of the Turkic peoples, ”Ojal Oguz said. He also stressed that today the UNESCO organization is actively working on the study and promotion of the values of the culture of the peoples.
The scientist said that the biggest task of the Turkic peoples in the era of globalization is cooperation, and suggested focusing on specific tasks for further work.
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Academician Talas Omarbekov shared his vision. “The Kazakh steppes were a colony of the Russian Empire, and it was not easy for the nomads to achieve their statehood. Due to colonial oppression, the tribes had less chances of creating a separate state. However, the Kazakh intelligentsia, led by Alikhan Bukeikhanov, hoped that after the February Revolution of 1917, the Kazakh people would be able to take part in the All-Russian Constituent Assembly and achieve their state autonomy peacefully. Therefore, in December, at the all-Kazakh congress, the autonomy of Alashord was declared, ”Talas Omarbekov said.
According to the scientist, the Bolsheviks were hostile to the leaders of Alash, because this movement never deviated from the path of creating a national state. However, it is known from history that the leaders of Alash did not achieve their goals and were subjected to political repression as "nationalists".
During the conference, Nisbet Mehdiyeva, professor of the Department of History of the Turkic Peoples of Baku State University, made a presentation on the topic "From the history of the national liberation struggle of the Kazakhs", and also reviewed the historical sources published in the 20th century. Within the framework of the meeting, issues of the history of statehood of the Kazakh and Turkish peoples, the movement and autonomy of "Alash", the creation and activities of the KazASSR and the struggle of the Turkic peoples for independence of the late 19th-early 20th centuries, the role of outstanding historical figures were studied. After the plenary session, the work of the conference continued in the sections: "History of statehood of the Kazakh and Turkish peoples", "Movement and autonomy" Alash "," Creation and activities of the Kazakh ASSR ".
