TIME FOR A NEW SCIENCE - DIASPOROLOGY

In the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, new branches of science are born and get a start in life. At the Institute for Asian Studies under the leadership of Professor G.N. Kim is currently actively working to promote a new young branch of diasporology science.

The main object of research is the director of the Institute of Asian Studies of KazNU named after Al-Farabi, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, G.N. Kim is a diaspora. And the goal is to promote a new young branch of diasporology science and its inclusion as an academic specialty in the university programs of our country. It is Kazakhstan, with its multi-ethnic composition of the population and the policy of preserving peace, harmony and harmony in interethnic relations, support in the development of culture and native languages ​​of ethnic diasporas, should initiate the institutionalization of diaspora.

“The work on my main scientific work - the three-volume monograph“ The History of Korean Immigration ”(on a global scale), recognized as a significant contribution to world Korean studies, took a decade and a half, but needs to be continued,” says the scientist. - To solve the set tasks, I had to visit more than 40 countries in Asia, America, Europe and Africa, work through tens of thousands of pages of written sources. As a result, a three-volume edition was published in Russian and Korean, and a translation into English is being prepared. " The continuation of the monograph is devoted to the analysis of diasporization processes, that is, the transformation of immigrants into diasporants.

Much preparatory work for the writing of the future three-volume edition was carried out within the framework of the leadership and implementation of two three-year scientific projects dedicated to diaspora research, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The textbook "Introduction to Diasporology" was published, which became the first Russian-language university publication in this officially unrecognized educational and scientific specialty. A new textbook "Fundamentals of Diasporology" was published, thereby strengthening the priority of Kazakhstan in this educational and scientific specialty.

The scientist plans to continue promoting the Kazakh diasporology. He intends to work to establish a university specialty, organize a Kazakhstani association of diaspora studies, create a specialized journal on this discipline in print and electronic form, hold international conferences, seminars and research at the world level.
