WILL BE ADOPTED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION

Today the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with the Rector of the National University of Modern Languages of Pakistan, Major General Muhammad Jafar.

The online meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Sajjad Ahmed and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yerzhan Kystafin. During the conversation, the participants discussed a wide range of issues, including the establishment and strengthening of partnerships.

The head of the university noted the fruitful diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed his intention to further intensify ties in the field of education and science. Since 1992, at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, a specialty “Urdu language and literature” has been opened. The rector noted that during this period the university trained more than 50 specialists who speak Urdu. Today at the faculty more than 10 students study Urdu language and literature.

In addition, in 2019, with the support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Kazakhstan, a center named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah was opened at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The rector of the university thanked the Pakistani side for providing the center with technical and teaching materials this year and said that the university is ready to make a comprehensive contribution to the higher education of Pakistani youth and their professional development.

In turn, the rector of the National University of Modern Languages, Major General Mohammad Jafar, expressed interest in cooperation and exchange of experience. He highly appreciated the step towards rapprochement between the two countries, especially in strengthening relations in the fields of science, education and culture.

The parties also agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation and put forward their proposals. Within its framework, it is planned to exchange students on academic mobility, organize advanced training courses for the teaching staff, implement joint research projects, translate textbooks and develop a Kazakh-Urdu dictionary.
