CONFERENCE IN HONOR OF THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE SCIENTIST-LINGUIST

An international scientific and practical conference "Philology and linguistics in the XXI century: achievements, innovations, prospects", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the anniversary of Doctor of Philology, Professor Olga Baimukhanovna Altynbekova, has started at the KazNU named after Al-Farabi. The event was attended by scientists from Finland, Turkey, Hungary, Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, as well as teachers and employees of leading scientific and pedagogical institutions of Kazakhstan, students.

The head of the university, Zhanseit Tuymebayev, made a congratulatory speech, who especially noted the outstanding merits of educational scientists such as Professor Olga Baimukhanovna on the way to achieving the high goals of the university. Speaking about the 50-year scientific and pedagogical activity of the hero of the day within the walls of KazNU, he noted that the alma mater develops the best traditions of large scientific schools in accordance with modern requirements.

"A well-known scientist who has gone from a talented student to a teacher, associate professor and professor, today at major linguistic congresses, he delivers a report on the peculiarities of the ethno social situation in Kazakhstan, adequately representing KazNU named after Al-Farabi, the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole," said the rector of the university. wishing the hero of the day great success in scientific and pedagogical activities.

Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities of the University Tlekkabyl Ramazanov, by the decision of the Academic Council, presented the hero of the day with the “Big Silver Medal of Al-Farabi KazNU” for his significant contribution to the development of the university and presented a bouquet of flowers.

The ceremony was attended by Director of the Center for Russian Cooperation and Education in Kazakhstan, Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Kazakhstan Alexey Koropchenko, Academician of the International Academy of Sciences of the Higher School, Professor of KazNU Eleonora Suleimenova, General Director of Mektep Publishing House Yerlan Satybaldiev, Adjunct Professor of Helsinki University Yekaterina Protasova, Professor of Anatolian University Zinaida Sabitova, professor of KazNU Nursulu Shaimerdenova, dean of the philological faculty of KazNU Bayan Omirbekova and other teachers, students noted the scientist's contribution to science and talked about the moral qualities of Olga Baimukhanovna. They proudly noted that the professor had educated thousands of students and created her own scientific school.

The scientist's monograph "Ethno-linguistic processes in Kazakhstan" is widely known not only in our country, but also in the countries of near and far abroad. The work conducts a deep sociolinguistic analysis of the language situation and language policy in our state. This monograph is included in the library collections of Harvard, Sorbonne, Columbia, New York Universities, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the US Congress, as well as other countries.

It should be noted that Olga Altynbekova has published over 400 scientific articles, including the monographs "Ethno-linguistic processes in Kazakhstan", "Ethno-linguistic construction in a multi-ethnic region", "Dynamics of the language situation in Kazakhstan" (2000, 2004, 2007, 2008 , 2012, 2013, 2019). She is the author of textbooks of the Russian language for universities ("Forms of verbs in the Russian language, 2003"; "Morphology of the modern Russian language", 2011, etc.) and textbooks on the culture of speech "Learning to speak correctly!"

Scientific articles are published abroad: USA, Great Britain, Finland, Ireland, Spain, Greece, China, Bulgaria, India, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, as well as in neighboring countries: Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan.

The scientist's innovative pedagogical activity is closely related to the creation of many new generation Russian language textbooks for secondary schools in Kazakhstan. Her books and textbooks as co-authors in different years were published in the republican publishing houses "Mektep" and "Atamura" and were in great demand.

Also during the conference there was a presentation of the second edition of the professor's book "Learning to Speak Correctly", which was republished in honor of the anniversary. The participants noted that this work has become widespread in the educational process in schools and universities in Kazakhstan.

The conference was held online and offline in the following areas: Innovative paradigm for the development of modern linguistics; Actual problems, discoveries, achievements of modern literary criticism; Linguodidactics: prospects, achievements, technologies of teaching language and literature; Comparative study of language, literature and culture. In the plenary and sectional speeches of the participants, topical issues of the development of modern linguistics and literary criticism were discussed.

Also, within the framework of the two-day conference, a round table "The language situation in modern Kazakhstan" and a master class "Information and communication technologies in teaching language and literature and issues of drawing up textbooks" will be held.
