KAZNU SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION WITH "GYLYM ORDASY" AND 19 RESEARCH INSTITUTES
2/2/2022At the Forum of Higher Educational Institutions and Research Institutes, which took place today in the Gylym Ordasy building, issues of the integration of science and education were discussed and a number of program agreements on cooperation between universities and research institutes were signed.
Participation in the large-scale event was attended by: Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuymebaev, General Director of the RSE on the REM "Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Religious Studies" Serik Seidumanov, representatives of research institutes , higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the scientific community.
Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov addressed the forum participants with a welcoming speech: “World experience shows that the leading countries have managed to effectively integrate science and education. And in Kazakhstan there is a certain experience, a number of our scientific organizations successfully interact with universities. For example, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Institute of Biological Safety Problems developed a new educational program in virology, opened a joint dissertation council and began to train personnel together. We are faced with the task of ensuring that all our scientific institutes and universities carry out joint work, for this purpose memorandums of cooperation will be signed.”
As a result of the joint activities of research institutes and universities, 500 new joint educational programs will be developed during this year, more than three hundred scientists and employees of research institutes are planned to be involved in lecturing and conducting classes, access to the laboratories of 68 research institutes will be provided for undergraduates and doctoral students. University students will have the opportunity to work in the unique laboratories of the National Nuclear Center, the Institute of Nuclear Physics and other research institutes. In addition, it is planned to create more than 100 dissertation councils. In general, the integration of science and education will be strengthened, and a mechanism for commercializing the results of research activities will be developed.
Then the floor was given to the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuymebaev. In his speech, he briefly described the scientific and educational activities of the country's leading university, emphasizing that at present it is aimed at solving the strategic tasks set by the Head of State and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. “Al-Farabi KazNU is a classic multidisciplinary university that combines education, science and innovation. Today it is the leader in the number of scientific projects and publications in our country,” said the head of the university. The university is included in the top 200 best universities in the world and in the top best in 17 areas of study. In 2021, he was ranked in the top 250 for graduate employability in the QS rankings. This year, 41 teachers and employees of the university became the owners of the international educational scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan ``Bolashak". This is 7.2% of the total number of scholarship holders in the country. Without stopping there, KazNU is aimed at increasing the contribution of science to the socio-economic development of the country, solving the problem of increasing the effectiveness of scientific projects and programs that have high investment attractiveness and are ready for commercialization.
Since 2014, the university has been implementing the "Integration of Education and Science" project with 10 research institutes of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Together with scientists from the Research Institute of KazNU, it prepares undergraduates and doctoral students in a wide range of scientific areas. Over the years, over 550 people have completed training under joint educational programs.
“Taking into account modern tasks, further integration should expand the areas of cooperation and significantly increase the range of integration issues,” stressed the Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuymebaev:
– We are aimed at creating new research groups for scientific support of the primary tasks of state development. The University has developed a mechanism for collecting technological tasks of the real sector to increase the investment attractiveness of scientific projects. We are currently expanding the base of research laboratories and centers for collective use. In general, the integration of education and science will lead to an increase in the contribution of Kazakhstani science to the socio-economic and socio-political development of the country.``
Within the framework of the Forum, a solemn signing of agreements on scientific and educational cooperation between universities and research institutes took place. KazNU named after al-Farabi signed agreements with the Republican State Enterprise "Gylym Ordasy" and 19 research institutes: institutes of history and ethnology named after Shokan Ualikhanov, mathematics and mathematical modeling, philosophy, political science and religious studies, linguistics named after Akhmet Baitursynov, etc.
