JOINT WORK WITH SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS WILL STRENGTHEN

Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuymebayev held a meeting with directors of research institutes as part of a project on the integration of education and science. The main purpose of the meeting is to strengthen the educational and scientific potential.

Welcoming the guests, Zhanseit Kanseituly noted that, in total, 19 out of 26 scientific organizations of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan are involved in the project.

“We signed an agreement just a month ago on the integration of education and science. Then KazNU signed a memorandum of cooperation with 19 research institutes. We have to make a common contribution to increasing the competitiveness of education and science. Our cooperation will be implemented in the following areas:

· implementation of multidisciplinary educational programs in bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies;

· development of scientific schools and implementation of integrated scientific projects;

· Creation of new research groups for scientific support of the primary tasks of state development;

· expansion of participation in international teams on the basis of the world's leading scientific and laboratory complexes,” the head of the higher educational institution emphasized.

Yerzhan Amirbekuly, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education, spoke at the online meeting.

“As a result of cooperation between universities and research institutes of the Ministry of Education and Science, more than 500 educational programs are expected to be created. This will ensure the application of the results of scientific research in educational programs. In order to transfer advanced scientific knowledge to students, more than 300 scientists and employees of research institutes will be invited to give lectures. More than 100 joint dissertation councils are expected to appear. For example, today more than 15 such councils have been created at Al-Farabi KazNU. All these measures will improve the quality of training of specialists,” Yerzhan Amirbekuly said.

Directors of research institutes also spoke during the meeting. They expressed their proposals on further cooperation and implementation of joint projects.

Director of the Institute of Zoology Roman Yashchenko expressed the opinion that it is necessary to restore the Department of Zoology.

“We are experiencing a shortage of staff. KazNU has not had a department of zoology for 10 years now. And it is very strongly felt. We propose to restore the Department of Zoology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. This will be the basis for our further integration,” said the director of the Institute of Zoology.

At the end of the meeting, Zhanseit Tuymebayev gave instructions to the deans of the faculties to strengthen the educational and scientific potential.

“It is necessary to visit research institutes and discuss issues with directors. And you also need to regularly send students to research institutes so that they apply their knowledge in practice,” the head of the university concluded.

After the meeting, the directors of research institutes visited the updated classrooms and got acquainted with the scientific and educational infrastructure of the university.
