International cooperation intensifies

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was visited by Stefan Buchmaier, head of the GIZ regional program "Preventing Violent Extremism in Central Asia". During the meeting, the issues of mutual beneficial scientific cooperation within the framework of a common project were discussed.


At the meeting, Yerkezhan Apsemetova, Director of KazNU's International Cooperation Department, introduced the university's activities and highlighted its main achievements. "KazNU cooperates with more than 500 leading universities of the world, is a part of many large international organizations, and has a wide range of educational programs and scientific directions", - noted the director of the department.

In turn, the distinguished guest thanked for the fruitful cooperation within the framework of the project "Prevention of violent extremism in Central Asia" and expressed the intention to intensify cooperation.To date, the project has been implemented in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It supports the state and civil society in taking appropriate measures to build resilience against violent extremism. "To this end, research universities can be of great help to us. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has great scientific potential, so we are interested in cooperating," said Mr. Stefan Buchmeier.

Also present at the meeting was Duman Zhekenov, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of Kazakh National University, who highlighted the work of the academic professors previously involved in the project. In the end, the parties agreed to organize further meetings to enhance effective partnership and promote the work of the project.
