CONFERENCE DEDICATED TO THE CONSTITUTION DAY WAS HELD AT KAZNU

The scientific-practical conference "Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan: history and new political reality" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was attended by following speakers: Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Mami, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Myrza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Emil Oskonbayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdulhafiz Ashurzoda, Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Issues of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Vladimir Vardanyan, ex-Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, expert The Venice Commission George Papuashvili, including the faculty members and students of the university.

"The Constitution is a systematic legal expression of those basic values that define the face of modern Kazakhstan, such as respect for human rights and freedoms, a market economy, adherence to democratic traditions and principles of the rule of law, and others. Currently, active legislative and organizational work is underway to consolidate the results of the constitutional reform. Yesterday round tables dedicated to the Constitution Day were held in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. Fruitful discussions with our colleagues from Central Asian countries, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova took place. This event, which takes place at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a continuation of these events. I am sure that these meetings will contribute to strengthening the constitutional legality regime in the country and friendship between the countries," Kairat Mami said.

In turn, Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted the crucial role of the Constitution in the state building and political management. "The Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted at a national referendum on August 30, 1995. Famous scientists of Kazakhstan, who have worked for Al-Farabi Kazakh National University for a long time, actively participated in the preparation of the current Constitution. These are academicians are the following individuals: Zimanov Salyk Zimanovich, Sartaev Sultan Sartaevich, Sapargaliev Gayrat Sapargalievich. It should be noted that at the referendum held on June 5 of this year, significant changes and additions were made to the basic law. All of them are aimed at the development of democracy. This conference aims to summarize the historical path of development of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, reveal its main content, and evaluate it from the point of view of world standards," the rector stated.

The conference was also attended by distinguished guests who came from neighboring countries. They congratulated Kazakhstanis on the significant holiday and expressed their best wishes. "On this day, at a national referendum, people adopted the Basic Law declaring Kazakhstan a secular, legal and unitary state. Creating reliable foundation for statehood, the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan has made its significant contribution to ensuring internal political stability and consolidation of the Kazakh society. I congratulate all of you on Constitution Day! I wish your country successful development, prosperity and peace. I am sincerely glad for the people of Kazakhstan," said Myrza–Ulugbek Abdusalomov.

At the end of the conference, the Rector of the University Zhanseit Tuimebayev presented the "Al-Farabi Gold Medal" to the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Emil Oskonbayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Tajikistan Abdulhafiz Ashurzoda.
