THE CENTER OF "IRANIAN-KAZAKH FARABI STUDIES" WILL BE OPENED AT KAZNU
9/20/2022The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty Mohsen Fegani visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. During the visit, the Iranian delegation and the leadership of KazNU discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of science and education.
In his welcoming speech, Chairman of the Board-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev paid attention on the activities of the Department of Iranian Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies), which issued 170 bachelors, 25 masters and 4 doctoral students.
To date, KazNU has concluded nine agreements with universities and centers of Iran: the University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University, the Cultural Representative Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazakhstan, the Institute of Humanitarian and Cultural Studies, the Shakhez Pazhu Research Institute, the Saadi Foundation and a number of others.
"KazNU is aimed at developing active cooperation in the field of education and science with Iranian partners. Kazakh–Iranian relations are a demonstration of our commitment to the spirit of good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation" - the head of the university stressed.
During the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Islamic Republic of Iran on June 19, 2022 within the framework of agreements, the parties decided to establish research center of "Iranian–Kazakh Farabi studies". "We will be glad to support the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty in the implementation of this task and hope for fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation," the Rector of KazNU stressed.
In turn, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty Mohsen Fagani assured the readiness to promote the implementation of a joint educational project, as well as to develop other areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Iran. At the end of the meeting, the sides exchanged views, discussed a number of issues and outlined plans to strengthen mutually beneficial relations.
