30 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN KAZAKHSTAN AND HUNGARY

9/30/2022

A series of cultural events dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary has started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization Yerkezhan Apsemetova delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. Noting that Kazakhstan and Hungary are connected by long-standing political and economic ties, the speaker focused on important milestones of cooperation between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Consulate General of Hungary. Within the framework of the Kazakh-Hungarian Business Forum, KazNU signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute for the Study of the Hungarian Nation. In November 2021, an information exhibition about the Budapest Parliament was successfully held at KazNU. On March 11, 2010 during the meeting of the Bologna Ministerial Forum in Budapest, Kazakhstan joined the Bologna Process. This event gave an important impetus to the development of the modern system of Kazakh education.

"It is very symbolic to hold this exhibition as part of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. We firmly believe in the further development of comprehensive relations between our peoples," said Yerkezhan Apsemetova, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Internationalization. "We hope that during these two days you will learn a lot about the history and cultural heritage of Hungary and about the existing close historical ties between our peoples."

"This is a significant date that we are happy to celebrate with your university. Now there is a lot of talk about the fact that we are united not only by historical, but also by genetic ties. And I was convinced of this by seeing how we cooperate, implementing joint projects. Participating in the World Kurultai in Budapest, we understood each other perfectly. Today we will show a documentary film that tells about how modern nomads live in Hungary. The film is based on the history of our ancestors – Hungarians and Kazakhs and their historical ties" - Mr. Consul General stated.

The ceremony ended with the screening of the short film "The Image of Hungarian Culture", created by the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs of Hungary in 2022. The performance of the Hungarian folk group "Magyarhang Zenekar" was timed to the creation of the Alumni club, which consists of an association of Kazakhstani students and graduates of Hungarian universities under the Stipendium Hungaricum program in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
