Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Professor of Tsukuba University Takashi Ninomiya at Al–Farabi Kazakh University.

In his welcoming speech, rector focused on the main milestones of cooperation between the two universities. Since the signing of the cooperation agreement with the University of Tsukuba, a number of projects aimed at the development of research and educational activities have been jointly implemented. This year 8 doctoral students, 1 master's student, 15 bachelors and 4 KazNU employees are undergoing a scientific internship in Japan on the basis academic mobility. Analogously, 6 students from Kobe University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages, Tokyo University are studying at KazNU.

Addressing his speech to the guest of honor, the rector stated the following: "I would like to mention Professor Takashi Ninomiya’s work as the coordinator of the Campus within Campus project at the University of Tsukuba. As part of this project along with KazNU, you are implementing successful projects with the world's leading educational institutions: the universities of Bordeaux, Taiwan, San Paolo, Grenoble, Utrecht. With your assistance, the Al-Farabi Center has been opened at the University of Tsukuba and consequently, systematic work is underway. As a qualified specialist in Oriental studies, you have been teaching at the university since 2014. Thank you for your participation in the preparation of joint projects and educational programs, for your special contribution to the development of the university."

In turn, Professor Takashi Ninomiya, thanking the head of KazNU for a long and fruitful cooperation, focused on the importance of this experience both for himself and for the University of Tsukuba. Thus, in February 2015 the KazNU and the University of Tsukuba jointly established a Scientific and Educational Center for the Study of Japan and Central Asia (Almaty Office of Tsukuba) at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

In December 2020, the opening of the first Al-Farabi Center at the University of Tsukuba took place, which became a significant milestone in the development of cooperation between Japan and Kazakhstan as part of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the Great Philosopher Al-Farabi.

"Today our universities are actively developing interuniversity relations in the field of joint international events in various fields of science and education: conferences, seminars, trainings. We are interested in strengthening mutually beneficial partnership, which serves as an excellent platform for the exchange of experience" - Professor Ninomiya stressed.

The meeting ended with a discussion of further directions and prospects of cooperation between universities.
