Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the meeting of the Professor of the Department of Middle Eastern Languages and Civilization of Washington University Talant Maukanuly and Professor of the University of Giessen Michael Reinhard. Issues such as the study of Turkic languages, importance of research based on originals and the preservation of the common Turkic heritage were touched upon during the meeting.
The head of the university noted that Kazakhstan is the center of the Turkic states and stressed the invaluable value of the ancestral heritage. He noted that KazNU scientists are conducting large-scale research in this field. Today, the Department of Turkology and Language Theory is successfully operating at the university.
Turkicologist and socio-cultural linguistics Talent Maukanuly shared his views on topical issues of Turkic Studies during the meeting. In his research, he focused on the languages of Central Eurasia and China in their social and cultural context, the problems of language disappearance, languages national minorities and ethnicity. The professor had carried out large-scale field work in this area, and is currently engaged in projects on the handwritten sources of Chagatai.
In turn, Michael Reinhard, who obtains PhD in Turkology shared his research activity in Germany. Turkologists emphasized the huge scientific and research potential of KazNU scientists and expressed interest in mutually beneficial cooperation.
