THE RECTOR OF KAZNU GOT ACQUAINTED WITH THE WORK OF THE PRESS SERVICE
11/4/2022Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev got acquainted with the activities of the Department of Information and Communications, where recently major repairs were carried out.
The rector was met by the director – press secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Qanshayim Baidaulet, who further informed the head of the university about the work of the department. The Department consists of four major agencies and one division. The Press Service, the “Farabi University” website, the “Farabi Media TV” studio, the “Qazaq Universiteti” newspaper, the Information and Monitoring Division were reorganized on behalf of the head of the educational institution and placed on the 3rd floor of the Rector's Office.
Major repairs have been carried out in all offices, as well as all doors, windows and the heating system have been replaced. In addition, laminate flooring and lighting fixtures are installed, electricity and Internet networks have been resumed, new furniture has been purchased. Journalists have been provided with appropriate technical equipment.
Firstly, the Head of KazNU Zh. Tuimebayev got acquainted with the activities of the editorial office of the newspaper "Qazaq Universiteti". In January, the newspaper has received the status of a republican periodical publication and entered the “Kazpost” catalog. In order to subscribe to the newspaper, payment system was launched through the Halyk bank QR application. Currently, the number of subscribers gradually grows, consequently, the publication has begun to be distributed in every region of the country. The design of the newspaper has been completely altered, various headings have been opened, such as "Leadership lecture", "Portrait of personality", "Innovations", "Integration of knowledge", "My University", "Mirror of Students".
Next, Zhanseit Kanseituly received full information about the work of the management of the TV studio "Farabi Media". The studio creates TV programs, commercials and documentaries. At the moment, the TV shows "Oytalky", "Brainstorming", "Innovative projects of KazNU", "Main events of the week", "Lectures of KazNU scientists", "Entrant", "Podcast", etc. were filmed and presented for distribution through the YouTube channel "Farabi Media".
The content of the YouTube channel "Farabi media" constantly increases. The channel, which was launched in 2015 previously had 16,000 supporters, and currently the number was increased to 41,900 subscribers. More than 210 videos were shot in 2020, 290 in 2021 and 260 during the three seasons of 2022.
The press service takes part in the filming of analytical TV programs, and also creates videos about the life of the university in Kazakh and Russian. For example, to date 36 topics of the programs "Oytalky", "Brainstorming" have been prepared. Such sessions were attended by 150 KazNU experts who discussed acute problems in society. 25 "Lectures of KazNU scientists" caught viewer’s special attention. It was also noted that the qualifying stage of the first television competition of young talents "Super Students" is being held.
The head of the University was presented with the results of the work of the Information and Monitoring Division, which distributes daily press releases on significant events that take place at the university, monitors and evaluates published information. Thus in 2020, 640 press releases devoted to the image of the KazNU were published in the republican media, whereas in 2021 this figure tripled (2221). And the number of materials for recent 9 months of 2022 is equal to more than 1,500 publications.
Further the management of the website of "Farabi University" presented a new version of the KazNU website, which meets modern requirements and will be launched in the coming days. In addition, the design of the official pages in social networks is changing, active work is underway to increase the number of readers. Instagram page is visited daily by 65,479 people, while Facebook and Telegram have gathered 15 thousand and 48 thousand people, respectively.
Zhanseit Kanseituly highly appreciated the joint work of the Department of Information and Communications and identified further directions. He expressed gratitude to the team, wished them success in their work and gave a number of specific instructions.
