KAZNU DISCUSSED METHODS OF STUDYING AND USING KAZAKH LANGUAGE

A session on the topic "Scientific and Methodological Foundations of the Study and Use of the State Language of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was attended by linguists, foreign professors, academic staff of the Faculty of Philology.

The session was opened by Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

"Today's meeting is devoted to the scientific and methodological foundations of the study and use of the state’s official language. The fate of the language is the fate of the whole state. The purpose of today's joint seminar is to conduct a scientific analysis of the problems of the state language, to attract specialists from various industries. It is also necessary to give new directions to researchers of the language, literature, folklore, history, ethnography, culture of the Turkic-speaking peoples. Today, the problem of language is common not only for the Kazakh society, but also for the Turkic world," the rector stated.

Also in his speech, the head of the university noted that the study of the state language is very important for a deep knowledge of our national identity.

"In recent years, the problem of replacing the existing Cyrillic alphabet with Latin graphics has been increasingly raised. The President emphasized that it is necessary to pay special attention to the scientific basis and public opinion, when the shift to Latin graphics happens. This is important for the integration of the Turkic states. We have the goal of developing the state language as the language of science," Zhanseit Tuimebayev said.

Chairman of the International Academy "Kazakh Tili", Professor Yerden Kazhybek, Director of the Research Institute of Turkic Culture, Professor Ahmet Bizhan, Honored Scientist of the Chuvash Republic, Turkologist Nikolai Egorov, head of the Association of American Researchers of Turkic Languages Yulai Shamiloglu spoke at the round table. Professor Yerden Kazhybek voiced the issues that need to be taken into account when switching the Kazakh language to the Latin alphabet.

The session was also attended by: Professor of Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University Kalamkas Kalybai, Head of the Center for Central Asian Studies of Adam Mickiewicz University, Alash scholar, Henrik Yankovsky, Professor of the Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University Tynyshtyk Ermekova, Head of the Kazakh Linguistics Department of KazNU, Doctor of Philology, Professor Anar Salkynbai and other scientists made presentations and shared their experience on topical issues of linguistics.

During the session, scientists were able to analyze the improved alphabet project, discuss topical issues of the transition to the Latin alphabet.
