KAZNU WILL CREATE A COUNCIL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENCE

The results of research and innovation activities for 2022 and the prospects for the development of the research university were announced at the Academic Council of the Al Farabi Kazakh National University.

The presentation was made by the Director of the Department of Science and Innovation Yerkin Kakimzhanov. In the period from 2022 to 2022, 305 research projects worth 5235.9 million tenge were completed, 147 international and national events were organized. In 2022, all 17 series of the "Bulletin of KazNU", as well as the international English journals of KazNU "International Journal of Biology and Chemistry", "International Journal of Mathematics and Physics", "Physical Sciences and Technology and Interdisciplinary Approaches to Medicine" were included in the list of publications recommended by the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and higher education of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the publication of the main results of scientific activity. They are also included in the international databases Scopus, Clarivate Web of Science. According to the indicators, the number of published articles by scientists and professors in the journal "Bulletin of KazNU" and "Journal of the Evolution of Open Systems" amounted to 864. According to the number of publications on the Scopus database in 2022, the following faculties entered the top three: chemistry and chemical technology, physics and technology, information technology. The total Hirsch index of KazNU scientists was announced, in 2022 it rose from 1402 to 1458. 

Following the results of research and innovation activities, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev gave a number of instructions for further development and improvement of work in this area. "Today we must focus on the development of science. It is necessary to make an analysis of all scientific projects of each department and faculty, determine the economic effect and distribute them on topical topics that are directly related to the solution of certain problematic issues in cities and in the whole country. Scientific projects with commercialization potential should work for the real sector of the economy."

It was also noted that when choosing the subject of projects, it is necessary to focus on state programs, establish communications with the manufacturing sector. The Rector proposed to open a permanent Council for the Development of Science. To develop quality criteria used in the selection of projects, works on a gradual increase in the citation of scientists' works. Also, the head of the university proposed to create a scientific innovation belt, which in the future will support university’s scientists.
