KAZNU CELEBRATES THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF PROFESSOR Y.G.BASIN

The Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference on the topic "The Scientific Heritage of Professor Yuri Grigoryevich Basin and the Development of Civil Law", dedicated to the 100^th anniversary of Professor Basin. 

The event brought together renowned local and foreign scientists, representatives of state bodies and public organizations, professors, academic staff of various universities, lawyers, undergraduates and doctoral students of the university, etc.

The conference was opened by the Rector's advisor Yerkin Duissenov, who has read out the words of greeting of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev.

"The name of Yuri Grigoryevich Basin is inscribed in golden letters in the history of legal science and civil law. He dedicated half a century to the Higher Law School of Kazakhstan, worked for forty years at the Kirov Kazakh State University, now al-Farabi Kazakh National University, he was a professor of the Department of Civil Law, dean of the Faculty of Law, head of the Department of Civil Law.

Yuri Grigorievich participated in the development of drafts of the Civil Code of the Kazakh SSR, the Marriage and Family Code of the Kazakh SSR, the Housing Code of the Kazakh SSR, drafted property laws and the Foundations of Civil Legislation of the USSR and republics. Professor Basin is one of the authors of the current Constitution of the Republics of Kazakhstan (adopted in 1995), as well as more than 40 draft laws, many of which in the period from 1992 to 1998 were adopted as laws or decrees of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The scale of the personality of Professor Yuri Grigoryevich Basin as one of the strongest lawyers in our country and abroad, his contribution to the development of the country's legislation makes today's conference an important event in the process of studying the history and prospects of development of Kazakhstan's legal science".

The plenary session was attended by: Chairman of the Judicial Board for Civil Cases of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurserik Sharipov, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Igor Rogov, Judge of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union,  Doctor of Ph.D. Venera Seytimova (Belarus), etc.
