HEAD OF NGO “BIKE FOR PEACE” GIVES A LEDERSHIP LECTURE AT KAZNU

Leader of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement “Bike for Peace”, Tore Naerland gave a leadership lecture to students of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

 Vice-Rector for Operations of KazNU, Assel Uvalieva thanked for the special visit of the guest of honor and noted the special role of the organization in maintaining peace throughout the world.

In turn, Tore Naerland introduced the activities of the organization that promotes peace on the way to nuclear disarmament.

"We have come to Kazakhstan more than once and witnessed real hospitality. Kazakhstan is one of those countries that voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons. At this stage, the concept of peace needs to be widely promoted in the world, and we hope that by 2045 we will be able to achieve general nuclear disarmament," Ture Naarland said.

In 1977 Tore Naerland and Helge Hundeide started their first international bicycle tour which they called “Bike for Peace”. The first campaign was held in Northern Ireland, where they biked together with catholics and protestants for peace.

                                        

                                        

                                       

                                        

                                       

Bike for Peace bike ride will last in the country until April 22 under the slogan "Look at Kazakhstan – they have abandoned nuclear weapon." Cyclists will visit the cities of Astana and Semey; meet with members of Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and students.
