SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION WITH INDIA
5/15/2023The delegation of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay paid a working visit to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At the meeting current projects and issues of strategic partnership were discussed.
Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that cooperation between KazNU and educational institutions of India dynamically developed. The university has established cooperation with 11 educational organizations of India. The exchange of students and teaching staff on academic mobility is actively conducted. Today, 587 Indian students study at the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare of KazNU.
In addition, joint activities and projects are implemented with Indian educational institutions. Since 1992, the Department of Indian Studies at the Department of the Middle East and South Asia has been successfully operating at the university. Together with partners, the Mahatma Gandhi Center was created in KazNU. The Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center has been opened in New Delhi. Currently, the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of KazNU is in close contact with the Coimbatore Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Technology Kolkata. Graduates regularly undergo internships abroad.
Amit Agarwal, Dean of the International Relations office Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, in turn, stressed the importance of cooperation with KazNU in the scientific field. Senior officials stated that they were interested in expanding cooperation through joint research in the future.
Following the results of the bilateral meeting, an agreement was reached on the implementation of joint research projects in the field of IT. The parties discussed the issue of opening a center for applied software and resource-intensive computing areas. It is also planned to open two laboratories: on computational engineering, machine intelligence and science data.
