In the course of studying the course to form the ability of doctoral students: - to study the main indicators of social development - use the methodology for calculating human development in determining the place of Kazakhstan on the HDI in the world - apply the HDI to assess the social development of the regions of Kazakhstan - assess the level of development of social infrastructure in cities and rural areas - suggest possible solutions for social infrastructure - to characterize the features and problems of the largest, medium and small cities, urban-type settlementsThe study of the course is aimed at the priority direction of the Republic of Kazakhstan to increase the level of socio-economic development of the regions of Kazakhstan. Recently, the regions have become increasingly independent, which is expressed in the decentralization of management and isolation of both economic and socio-economic structures. There was a need to form a new regional sphere of interests and responsibility, implemented in specific conditions on a specific territory. The interests of the region, above all, are expressed in the stabilization of reproduction, as well as the preservation and multiplication of the accumulated potential. The study of methodological approaches and a comprehensive assessment of the socio-economic status of the regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan is necessary when developing measures to improve the demographic policy, regional differentiation of natural movement. The study of the main indicators of social development, indicators of the level and quality of life, education, public health and the characteristics and problems of the largest, medium and small cities are necessary in the study of issues of social development of regions and possible solutions.
