MODEL OF GRADUATING STUDENT

ON1. to assess critically the current problems of meteorological science caused by human processes;
ON2. to introduce new technologies related to the automation of processing methods, calculations, forecasts and estimates of hydrometeorological parameters;
ON3. to investigate atmospheric processes based on the principles of optimized management and observation of global and regional changes in the state of the atmosphere;
ON4. to adapt modern software in the field of climate and meteorological forecasting to the conditions of Kazakhstan;
ON5. to develop scenarios for regional climate change and take early and comprehensive measures to adapt to them;
ON6. to participate in the work of the Regional Association and the Program Working Groups of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), which includes climatology, climate monitoring and numerical prediction methods;
ON7. to monitor climate change in Kazakhstan;
ON8. to calculate sectoral climate indices for adaptation and risk management based on WMO software;
ON9. to investigate the influence of atmospheric circulation on the occurrence of dangerous weather phenomena on the territory of Kazakhstan;
ON10. to apply modern methods and technologies in weather forecasting;
ON11. to establish scientific relations with foreign partners for joint research, the results of which are published in high-rated journals;
ON12. to synthesize and transform interdisciplinary knowledge in the process of solving educational, scientific and research tasks.

Ecological and climatic potential of Kazakhstan

  • Description - The discipline’s purpose is to form the ability to assess and analyze the environmental and climatic potential of Kazakhstan. Discipline is aimed at studying: the theoretical and methodological basis of the ecological and climatic potential of Kazakhstan; physico-statistical models of medium and long-term forecast of atmospheric pollution in priority areas.

  • Description - The main purpose of "PhD thesis writing and defence": of a doctoral dissertation is the formation of the doctoral students' ability to disclose the content of research work for the defense of the thesis. During the study of course, doctoral student's should be competent in: 1. to substantiate the content of new scientifically grounded theoretical and experimental results that allow to solve a theoretical or applied problem or are a major achievement in the development of specific scientific directions; 2. explain the assessment of the completeness of the solutions to the tasks assigned, according to the specifics of the professional sphere of activity; 3. they can analyze alternative solutions for solving research and practical problems and assess the prospects for implementing these options; 4. apply the skills of writing scientific texts and presenting them in the form of scientific publications and presentations. 5. to plan and structure the scientific search, clearly highlight the research problem, develop a plan / program and methods for its study, formalize, in accordance with the requirements of the State Educational Establishment, the scientific and qualification work in the form of a thesis for a scientific degree Doctor of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on specialty «8D07502 – Standardization and certification (by industry)». During the study of the discipline doctoral student will learn following aspects: Registration of documents for presentation of the thesis for defense. Discipline is aimed at studying: physical processes in prognostic models; parameterization of subgrid-scale processes; methods of short-term weather forecast for a limited area; global atmospheric models for weather forecasting.

Mountain meteorology

  • Description - The discipline’s purpose is to form the ability to describe and evaluate the climate features of mountain areas. Discipline is aimed at studying: radiation and heat balances; turbulent heat and moisture exchange; meso - and microclimate of mountainous countries; use of meteorological information for the analysis of glaciological indicators.

Potential for renewable energy
