«Central Asia» International Summer School

A delegation of the University of Zurich, led by PhD Dr., Professor Peter Finke, arrived at the «Central Asia» International Summer School being held at the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of KazNU.

Peter Finke is an international partner of the Department, the organizer of summer schools at the University of Zurich for undergraduates.

On June 1, the Professor gave an introductory lecture on the culture, history, anthropology of the peoples of Central Asia. Then, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Center for the Study of Modern China at KazNU, Nabizhan Mametkhanuli gave a lecture on China and Central Asia. He acquainted the audience with the history of the development of relations between the peoples of Central Asia and China from the early centuries to the modern period, as well as development prospects, and answered questions regarding the political influence of China on Kazakhstan. A lecture by Professor Murat Laumulin «Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Economic Union» was also held during the event.

Students of the international summer school took part in the cultural program, visited ICBC Khorgos, historical and cultural sites in the cities of Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand, Bishkek, Ulan-Bator. The work of the summer school will continue until June 10.
