MODEL OF GRADUATING STUDENT

Upon completion of this program, it is expected that doctoral students will be able to:
1.Accumulate fundamental knowledge in research, academic, organizational and other professional fields of theory of translation, to integrate methodology of scientific research, and methods of the analysis of the most important processes of cross-cultural and transcultural communication;
2. Apply a modern oriental language, as well as Kazakh, Russian and Western languages at a level sufficient for research and professional practice;
3. Effectively generate the process of communication, apply the technique of bilateral interpretation and translation from the Eastern language and to the Eastern;
4. Analyze the trends of modern science, critically evaluate various theories, concepts and approaches, identify promising areas of research;
5. Formulate and solve modern scientific and practical problems, to develop projects and programs in the national and foreign languages;
6. Apply modern information technologies, including methods of obtaining, processing and storing scientific information, methods of statistical analysis, reporting skills, interpretation of data in the native and foreign languages;
7. Independently acquire new knowledge, integrate and analyze it, using the relevant literature in the field of theory and practice of translation;
8. Critically apply the provisions of modern linguistic theory of translation in the written and oral forms of translation, as well as in research activities;
9. Create new curricula and develop innovative methods of organizing the educational process;
10. Apply new interactive and digital technologies in practical teaching activities in higher education;
11. Contribute by means of original research to the framework of existing knowledge in the field of translation studies and the study of a specific translation problem of the oriental language;
12. Show independent thinking and interpretation of cultural, intercultural, literary and linguistic discursions, as well as an understanding of other cultures and identities in the past and / or in the present.

The discipline is aimed at studying the theoretical and practical levels of modern translation studies; linguistic and literary theory of translation; translation concepts in the context of modern multidisciplinary research; methodological provisions and conceptual ideas of leading translation schools and their representatives.

  • Description - The main purpose of "PhD thesis writing and defence": of a doctoral dissertation is the formation of the doctoral students' ability to disclose the content of research work for the defense of the thesis. During the study of course, doctoral student's should be competent in: 1. to substantiate the content of new scientifically grounded theoretical and experimental results that allow to solve a theoretical or applied problem or are a major achievement in the development of specific scientific directions; 2. explain the assessment of the completeness of the solutions to the tasks assigned, according to the specifics of the professional sphere of activity; 3. they can analyze alternative solutions for solving research and practical problems and assess the prospects for implementing these options; 4. apply the skills of writing scientific texts and presenting them in the form of scientific publications and presentations. 5. to plan and structure the scientific search, clearly highlight the research problem, develop a plan / program and methods for its study, formalize, in accordance with the requirements of the State Educational Establishment, the scientific and qualification work in the form of a thesis for a scientific degree Doctor of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on specialty «8D07502 – Standardization and certification (by industry)».
