MODEL OF GRADUATING STUDENT

Upon completion of this programme, it is expected that doctoral candidates will be able to do so:
1. Analyze, evaluate and compare modern and traditional theoretical concepts in the field of translation studies and Eastern philology.

2. To conduct independent scientific research characterized by academic integrity, based on modern theories and methods of analysis.


3. Freely operate the cognitive-category apparatus, using the theoretical provisions of the methodology of the cognitive-communication concept of translation and translation studies and oriental philology.

4. To systematize and interpret scientific theories and concepts of the modern directions of comparativistics in order to further apply this knowledge in the selection of theoretical positions.

5. To organize a scientific and comprehensive research process in the field of Oriental philology, providing originality, novelty and reliability of the results.

6. Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into the research process on Eastern philology in order to adapt and analyze modern research approaches.


7. To develop teaching materials for conducting classes and extra-curricular activities in literary and linguistic disciplines in higher education institutions using educational technologies and teaching methods based on their critical understanding.

8. To implement patent search and experience of scientific information transfer with the use of modern information and innovation technologies, protection of intellectual property rights for scientific discoveries and developments in the field of Oriental philology.


9. To determine and design individual trajectories of education in the field of Oriental philology independently, taking into account global trends and strategies for the development of higher education.

10. Model and develop programs to act as a translator of the national-cultural identity of the Eastern communities being studied.


11. Critically assess the results of own theoretical and applied research, scientific product, concepts in relation to modern achievements, paradigms and theories in the field of Oriental philology.

12. To be ready for correct and tolerant interaction in society, for social interaction and cooperation to solve the problems of science.

Basic Paradigms and Methodology of Foreign Philological Research

  • Description - To form the ability to develop skills of substantiated and detailed analysis of problems on the methodology of science and basic paradigms of philology. - systematize the fundamental laws of interaction between language and thinking, language and society, language and culture; - interpret the current state of foreign philological science, theoretical foundations of linguistic paradigms development; - apply effective methods of philological research on the chosen research topic; The course is aimed at studying: Systems of orienting knowledge about the most important paradigms and methodologies of foreign philology, knowledge about prospects and directions of modern philology development in accordance with general paradigms and methodologies of foreign philological research.

Computational Technologies in Philology

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to form the ability to apply computer technologies in oriental philology. The course forms the ability to use the computer case of texts to create thesaurus, dictionaries of different types, texts for different purposes, etc. The course is aimed at studying: classification of corpses on different bases; parallel corpses; methods of machine translation; computer programs; complexity of creation of an oral corpus.

Corpus Linguistics and Automation of Lexicographical Works

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to develop the ability to master and apply the skills of working with software and information resources of corpus linguistics. The course is aimed at studying: corpus linguistics, applied linguistics, automation of lexicographical works, modeling method, experimental character of applied methods, language system.

  • Description - The main purpose of "PhD thesis writing and defence": of a doctoral dissertation is the formation of the doctoral students' ability to disclose the content of research work for the defense of the thesis. During the study of course, doctoral student's should be competent in: 1. to substantiate the content of new scientifically grounded theoretical and experimental results that allow to solve a theoretical or applied problem or are a major achievement in the development of specific scientific directions; 2. explain the assessment of the completeness of the solutions to the tasks assigned, according to the specifics of the professional sphere of activity; 3. they can analyze alternative solutions for solving research and practical problems and assess the prospects for implementing these options; 4. apply the skills of writing scientific texts and presenting them in the form of scientific publications and presentations. 5. to plan and structure the scientific search, clearly highlight the research problem, develop a plan / program and methods for its study, formalize, in accordance with the requirements of the State Educational Establishment, the scientific and qualification work in the form of a thesis for a scientific degree Doctor of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on specialty «8D07502 – Standardization and certification (by industry)».   • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to form the ability to create a scientific text based on modern methods and models in the world community. Discipline is aimed at studying transdisciplinary and intradisciplinary approaches in scientific research; the method of the "middle platform"; principles for constructing a scientific study of the social and humanitarian direction; the use of computer programs and technology in the processing of materials; methods of content analysis; cognitive mapping, etc.

Comparative Study of Literature

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to form the ability to analyse and interpret literary texts in the Oriental language using the methods of comparativism. The course is aimed at studying the problems of comparative literature, the interrelation of literatures, relations and their typology, forms of influence and impact, genres of ‘secondary’ literature in the context of comparativism, typological convergence, similarity, identity.

Corpus Linguistics and Automation of Lexicographical Works

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is the use of theoretical skills for the study of corpus linguistics in the framework of domestic and foreign linguistics. By the end of the module, students will reach the following expected outcomes: 1. to systematize knowledge and to distinguish a conceptual framework of each of the directions of applied linguistics; 2 to classify the research methods applied in a linguodidactics (science about developments of techniques of training in a foreign language), introduction into terminology (science about streamlining and standardization of scientific and technical terminology), translation studies (translation theory), computational linguistics. 3. to prove theoretically a terminographical basis as independent science 4. to establish the optimum sequence of carrying out terminografical work; 5. to carry out inventory of terminographical parameters as elements of terminological data in the automated systems; 6. to create a terminological databank and to define types of information entered into it. Particular attention in the module is given to the analysis of common characteristic features of methods applied in various directions of applied linguistics: the leading role of the modeling method; experimental nature of applied techniques; complex combination of different sciences. The content of the module is focused on the study of ways to optimize the various areas of the functioning of the language system. The variety of methods of applied linguistics is quite comparable with the variety of specific areas of application of scientific knowledge of the language: each specific applied discipline has its own unique set of methods. When studying discipline the following aspects will be considered: Corpus linguistics. Applied linguistics. Automation of lexicographic works. Modeling method. Experimental character of applied techniques. Language system. Applied linguistics.

Existentialist imagination in contemporary Eastern literature

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to form the ability to analyse literary works in the Oriental language, characterised by the currents of modernism and postmodernism. The course is aimed at studying the peculiarities of modernism and postmodernism in modern literature, the formation of avant-garde currents in Eastern literature, the works of the founders of existentialist philosophy and literature, methods and techniques of expression of existentialist imagination in artistic works.

Language Impact and Linguopragmatics: the Language of Mass

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to develop the ability to identify problems of linguistic pragmatics, to determine the specifics and discourse of media texts in the countries of the East. The course examines media genres, the thesaurus of newspaper text, methods of analyzing media discourse, derivational trends in lexical semantics, problems of modern terminology, ways of emergence of new concepts, emotionally expressive ways of transmitting information, textual parts of video information, the use of newspaper templates.

Linguistic Doctrines and Theory of Linguistics

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to develop the ability to critically analyse linguistic doctrines and theories of linguistics, to differentiate and apply their methods in one's own research. The course deals with generative linguistics, interpretivism, Montague's grammar, functionalism; prototype theory, language as a ‘grid of categories’, text linguistics and textology; speech act theory, problems of cognitive linguistics, and others.

Literary Criticism and Theory

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to form the ability to analyze and review contemporary works of fiction in the Oriental language. The course forms the aesthetic perception and ability to reveal the content of fiction. The course is aimed at studying the principles of critical analysis of fiction, the basics of literary theory, the peculiarities of modernist and postmodernist movements, methodological trends in literary studies, the specifics of artistic thinking, the poetics of the art word.

Macrosociolinguistic Research in Modern Linguistics

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to develop the ability to apply in research the knowledge of sociolinguistics, which studies the conditioning of linguistic phenomena and language units by social factors in Eastern society. The course deals with macrosocial linguistics, standing at the intersection of linguistics, sociology, social psychology, ethnography, etc., linguopragmatics, concepts of sociolinguistics, research methods in sociolinguistics.

MetaDictionary and Linguistic Terminology

  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to develop the ability to apply linguistic terms in the description of scientific works and to create a meta–dictionary (metalanguage dictionary) in Oriental and native languages, different types of dictionary of linguistic terms. The course is aimed at studying the functions of the metalanguage, types of dictionaries of linguistic terms, trends in the derivation of linguistic terminology, ways to create new terms, problems of author's terms, unification of linguistic terms.

The local and global context of Eastern literatures

  • Description - The purpose of the course is to form the ability to determine the results of local and global relations of Oriental literature, the principles of interaction of literature at the national and international levels, to understand the basics of the theory of comparativism, to identify the features of relations of modern Oriental literature. The course is aimed at comparative study of literature, consideration of the tendencies of others' perception, types of transformation of products born from the relations of Oriental literature.
