  • Description - The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize doctoral students with the main types of vegetation cover in Kazakhstan, origin, features of formation, current state and protection measures. As a result of studying the discipline, a doctoral student will be able to: - describe the features of the flora and vegetation cover of Kaazakhstan; - be able to conduct research to determine the most important characteristics of natural populations and communities; - use knowledge of natural populations and communities in environmental monitoring and assessment of biodiversity; - distinguish the areas of vegetation cover of your research object and describe the structure of the coenopopulation; - organize activities for the protection of natural complexes, taking into account population, synecological and ecosystem approaches.

As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: - to use knowledge of geobotany in the creative solution of problem situations in teaching, research, and scientific activities. - understand and manage the environment, build strategies for learning, decision making and problem solving. - to study the patterns of formation, functioning and classification of plant communities; - use modern methods of studying and restoring natural ecosystems; - - implement measures for the rational use and protection of the plant resources of Kazakhstan. In studying the discipline, the following aspects will be addressed: the use of modern geobotanical research methods; selection of appropriate methods in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the study; basic ideas about the indicative properties of vegetation; overview of world databases on geobotanical techniques; methods and prospects for the use of geobotanical research in the conduct of complex physical, geographical and landscape surveys; solving problems in the field of geobotany, agriculture, ecology based on geobotanical methods; methodological foundations of field and office geobotanical studies, including methods for compiling geobotanical maps, analytical and evaluation maps based on them.

Protection of Rare and Endangered Spesies of Plants

  • Description - The main purpose of of the discipline familiarization doctoral students with wild-growing useful plants of Kazakhstan, with actual problems of conservation, rational use and protection of useful plants. As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: - determine the taxonomic and biological characteristics of the most valuable and rare plant species; - to apply measures for the protection of Red Book plant species; - to conduct a geobotanical analysis of the lists of protected species; - to monitor the state of the population of protected plant species - analyze the structural and functional organization of biogeocenotic systems. The course introduces with rare and endangered species of major (large) plant families in Kazakhstan and their present state, as well as with activities in Kazakhstan on conservation of biodiversity in condition in situ and ex situ.
